The season when the cherries paint the land with their pink came. I can hardly deny that I am Japanese.

048 Farms & Orchards

Recently I have been biking from one city to another. In between, I pass by many farms and orchards. It is just nice to feel the season changing by looking at the vegetables and fruit trees growing or at the farmers’ stores.

周囲には野菜畑と果樹園で囲まれている。野菜や果樹の様子、農家さんの直売所の店頭から季節感が感じられるのは何とも贅沢なこと。

046 Sheep in a city park @Hastings

Again, I was reminded that I am now in a country of sheep.

There were sheep in a city park. Is it that easy to take care of sheep? I really have to visit and learn more about sheep farming someday.

都市公園内で飼育（？）されている羊。

045 Japanese vegetables

At the farmer’s market in Hastings, I found some Japanese vegetable sold, not as vegetables but as plants.

Mizuna can be used for almost any kinds of dish because it does not have strong smell or flavor.

Mitsuba also can be used for all sorts of dish, but has a distinct smell, which I actually like.

044 Farmer’s Market in Hastings

Every Sunday, there is a farmer’s market in a city, Hastings.

It is the show time for local fresh (some of them are organic) vegetables and fruits.

There are tasty food such as cheese and sausage made by local stores as well.

Although it is held inside this time of the year, it will be outside during the summer time.

In a way, it is a dangerous place to go with an empty stomach!!!

隣町、Hastingで毎週日曜に行われるFarmer’s Market。地元産の新鮮で旬な（中には有機栽培の）野菜や果物のオンパレード。手作りのチーズやソーセージも売られている。

この季節は屋根の下で、夏は屋外で開催されるとのこと。

空腹時に行くのは危険かな！？
